Service is one of Kappa Sigma’s four pillars. Beta-Epsilon brothers give their time and raise money for veterans and for our neighbors in Dane County.
Military Heroes Campaign
The Military Heroes Campaign is Kappa Sigma’s national philanthropy, supporting military veterans and their families. Since it began in 2007, the campaign has raised more than $2 million for nonprofit organizations that serve veterans across the United States and Canada.
Every year the fraternity challenges its chapters to take part in Military Heroes Month, a coordinated push to raise money and awareness. Chapters support veteran causes of their choosing and work with the campaign’s partner charities.
At Beta-Epsilon, that means events like our Polar Plunge and Salute Week, where brothers and the wider Greek community raise funds and give their time for those who served.
Our Chapter in 2026
- Polar Plunge, February 20: more than $800 raised and over 50 hours of service
- Salute Week, April 13–18: our first week-long philanthropy for the campaign
- Sorority powderpuff tournament

Humorology
Humorology is the largest student-run philanthropy and variety show in Wisconsin. Each year, casts of UW–Madison students spend months writing and rehearsing original musical comedy while raising money for a local charity.
The season runs from August to April. Beneficiaries are chosen over the summer, fundraising begins in September, and it all builds to the final performances each spring at Shannon Hall in Memorial Union.
Over the years Humorology has raised millions of dollars for Dane County nonprofits, including the Badger Childhood Cancer Network, the Rainbow Project, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County. Beta-Epsilon brothers are proud to be part of a tradition that has run since 1947.
Raised for Dane County
- $520,000 for the Canopy Center of Dane County
- $490,000 for Logan’s Hearts and Smiles
- $441,000 for the Respite Center at RISE Wisconsin
